SUMMARY:BALANCING THE NERVOUS SYSTEM USING THE TRAGER® APPROACH
DESCRIPTION:What is Trager?\nTrager is a unique\, neuromuscular approach to bodywork and movement re-patterning. The tablework consists of deep\, fluid rocking movements (oscillations) of muscles and joints combined with compression and gentle traction. This feeds into the nervous system resulting in dramatic muscular relaxation\, along with feelings of lightness\, freedom and flexibility. The client is also shown simple exercises called mentastics which helps integrate the profound changes in the body. \nAbout This Class:\nMost massage approaches succeed well at releasing muscular tension. But very few massage approaches succeed at dissolving the patterning that produces the tension\, which means after a period of relaxation\, it lives to see another day. \nThe Trager® approach is different. Not only does it release the tension\, but through its specific\, rhythmic\, gentle movements and oscillations of the muscles\, it\, ‘resets\,’ the nervous system\, unhooking it from the dysfunctional movement patterning\, and facilitating natural movement once again. \nFrom this state\, the body and mind have\, ‘learned\,’ or\, ‘become reacquainted with’ a natural movement vocabulary from which they can build to achieve freedom from pain and tension. Trager® movements called Mentastics\, are taught to the patient after the session to consilidate and improve upon the changes. \nTrager® stands alone as an approach\, but also beautifully compliments and deepens other styles of massage as well. Come and learn the language of the neuromuscular system\, and turn temporary release of tension into ongoing dissolution of muscular tension patterns. \nThis Introductory Workshop serves as a prerequisite for the Trager® Level 1 Training leading towards certification as a Trager Practitioner. \nRegister with a friend discount: $30 each. SUMMARY:Trager Mentastics B (second weekend)
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to expand your inner and outer landscape\, learn to live and work pain free\, and inspire and assist your clients? \nThe second two days (*Mentastics B: Friday-Saturday\, Sept 6-7th\, 9:30am-4:30pm) revisit how deepening our personal practice expands our capacities to lead clients through transformative movement practices. We will then build on this foundation to address teaching Mentastics to groups. Open to all Trager students and practitioners. \n\n\n\nWhat are Mentastics\nMentastics are a process of movement exploration and mind/body development characterized by an open\, curious state of mind and used to explore and integrate lighter\, freer\, more peaceful ways of moving and being. Trager practitioners use them for self-care\, self-development\, and for our work with clients. Dr. Trager coined the word “Mentastics” as a conjoining of “mental” and “gymnastics”. Mentastics support on-going well being\, enhance the benefits of Trager Sessions and teach clients how to integrate the principles into their daily life. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstructor: Gwen Crowell\nGwen was introduced to the work of Dr. Milton Trager while attending massage school in Berkeley. SUMMARY:Treating the Source of Headache Pain
DESCRIPTION:Headaches refer to a broad range of pain experienced in the head\, face and skull. They derive from any combination of various structures including nerves\, sutures\, sinuses\, arteries\,\nmuscles\, and the functional and structural abnormalities. Sources can be both local and remote from the site of pain. \nThe key to treating headaches is combining the client’s symptom profile with incisive history taking and prolific palpatory assessment. We can then differentiate among the many sources and types of headache and base our treatments accordingly. \nIn this workshop we’ll differentiate between facial\, sutural\, TMJ\, neurologic\, structural and vestibular causes that result in migraine\, tension\, sinus\, cluster and other headaches. We’ll learn both their presentation and targeted methods of treatment.
