SUMMARY:DYNAMIC MOBILIZATIONS and HEADACHE & CONCUSSION
DESCRIPTION:DYNAMIC MOBILIZATIONS (Sunday) is a new offering with different\, complimentary content to other Trager courses. Go beyond passive and active range of motion by using the weight of the mobilized\, relaxed body against changing hand fulcrums and waves of various amplitudes. This is similar to the combination of the fluid dynamics of breath and fingers playing a solo on a flute or saxophone. This approach allows for deep tissue access and clinical creativity and specificity without sacrificing a feeling of safety and comfort for client and therapist alike.\n\nWe’ll explore mobilizations for the whole body including neck\, shoulder girdle\, spine and pelvis. We’ll explore prone\, supine and sidelying work\, and explore somatics (Trager Mentastics) that bring greater presence for client and therapist. \nLearn to: \n• Impact joints\, organs\, fascia and fluids\n• Increased proprioceptive reintegration\n• determine restrictions three dimensionally\n• simultaneously affect local and global change\n• trauma informed touch promotes neuroceptive safety\n• leverage the sensory-motor system for resolution of pain \n  \n  \n\n\nHEADACHES & CONCUSSION (Monday)  many who suffer from headaches have histories of high intensity impact to the the neck and head including from MVA’s\, extreme sport\, other acute trauma\, long term\, low grade deforming impacts\, and more. While these patients may vary in headache presentation\, they often share a common thread of excessive force and subsequent compression to the structures of the face\, head\, neck\, jaw and cervical spine. \n  \n\n\nEven skillful massage often leads to temporary results\, due to muscle dominant treatments that only affect certain contributors to the problem. The most effective treatments use a range of palpatory approaches with a variety of  structures\, differentiate types of tenderness\, grades and causes of hypertonicity\, and their contributions at different segments. \n  \n\nWe’ll learn an array of soft tissue techniques and approaches to release locked in\, compressive forces from the cervical spine\, jaws\, face and cranium\, differentiating\, and minimizing these forces on chronic headache presentations. Assessment and techniques focus on myofascia\, joints\, sutures\, and bones\, with special focus on the upper cerivcal spine and cranial helmet. We will also rule in or rule out contributions from the thorax and below and look at treatments to address them\, when relevant.\n\nInstructor: Joseph Rodin is a licensed massage therapist\, psychotherapist\, and certified Trager® practitioner. His somatic background includes intensive study of Trager®\, along with extensive coursework in osteopathic inspired manual therapy methods. Joseph took his first Trager® course in 1995 and returned to later to become certified in 2010. Since then\, he has taught numerous Trager® introductory classes\, mentored with and assisted senior Trager® instructors\, been a Trager® Tutor and is the past President of the US Trager® Association and past member of the Board of Directors for Trager International. He’s presented on Trager and TMJ at Trager Conferences live\, virtually\, and for the Tragerology organization.

DESCRIPTION:Come join us on the waterfront in Orcas Island\, WA for Trager Level 2\, Part A\, with Joseph Rodin\, October 3-5th.\n  \nTrager Level 2\,  a stand alone class and the second step of Trager Certification\, is designed for students to experience a deeper level of creativity\, therapeutic effectiveness\, and integration. Trager Level 1 is a prerequisite. \nCourse description and objectives:\nBoth Mentastics (mindful movement) & Table-work are taught through demonstrations and supervised practice and you’ll come away with a more expanded full body protocol to integrate into your current bodywork practice and a more comprehensive foundation for subsequent certification to offer Trager Approach as a primary modality in your practice. \nThe class will teach effective applications for pain and injury\, as well as relief from symptoms of sustained social\, emotional and psychological stress. It will also highlight ways of working with manual therapy and body sensation to address the effects of internalized trauma\, both recent and long past. Trager is a valuable approach for anyone who wants to elevate awareness in themselves and their clients. \nAbout Trager The tablework\, involving deep\, fluid rocking movements (oscillations) of muscles and joints combined with gentle traction and compression\, feeds the brain’s natural neuroplasticity and induces dramatic muscular relaxation\, along with feelings of lightness\, freedom\, and flexibility. Sessions also include individualized\, mindful\, somatic movement explorations called Mentastics. \n \nInstructor: Joseph Rodin MA\, LMP\, CTP.\, has been practicing bodywork for over twenty-five years. A certified Trager® Practitioner\, Tutor and Instructor\, he’s also studied and taught intra-oral massage\, cranial sacral therapy and other forms of manual therapy. He’s worked at the nationally recognized TMJ Orofacial Disorders Center and Mind Your Body Pain Clinics in Seattle and currently enjoys his private practice in Psychotherapy\, Trager and Manual Therapy. \n  \n  \nMilton Trager\, MD\, who became aware of the basic principles at the age of 18\, spent over 50 years refining this unique approach to somatic movement therapy and bodywork\, achieving high levels of success with effects of Parkinson’s\, MS\, Post Polio Syndrome\, Back Pain\, Migraine’s\, and Chronic Pain\, while helping patients reconnect to their inherent sense of ageless\, ease and joy of movement. \n  \n

SUMMARY:DEEPENING SOMATIC PRESENCE
DESCRIPTION:From our deepened Somatic Presence arises greater effectiveness\, creativity and pain-free work at the table. Our clients come for integration and healthy movement. What better way to transmit this then working from our own pain-free flow? Leveraging insights from Trauma Informed Touch and the Trager Approach\, we’ll harmonize our client’s nervous system’s and maximize tissue change all while balancing our own systems. \n  \nLearn to: \n• Impact joints\, organs\, fascia and fluids\n• Increased proprioceptive reintegration\n• determine restrictions three dimensionally\n• simultaneously affect local and global change\n• trauma informed touch promotes neuroceptive safety\n• leverage the sensory-motor system for resolution of pain \n \nWhat is Trauma Informed Touch?\nAn approach that focuses on the client’s sense of somatic safety throughout the session. While conveyed verbally\, through skilled\, receptive touch and attention\, we’re able to transmit safety to the nervous system beyond words\, and which promotes muscular release harmonized with the nervous system rather than at the expense of it. \n  \n \nWhat is Trager?\nTrager is a unique\, neuromuscular approach to bodywork and movement re-patterning. The tablework consists of deep\, fluid rocking movements (oscillations) of muscles and joints combined with compression and gentle traction. This feeds into the nervous system resulting in dramatic muscular relaxation\, along with feelings of lightness\, freedom and flexibility. The client is also shown simple exercises called mentastics which helps integrate the profound changes in the body. \n \nMilton Trager\, MD\, who became aware of the basic principles at the age of 18\, spent over 50 years refining this unique approach to somatic movement therapy and bodywork\, achieving high levels of success with effects of Parkinson’s\, MS\, Post Polio Syndrome\, Back Pain\, Migraine’s\, and Chronic Pain\, while helping patients reconnect to their inherent sense of ageless\, ease and joy of movement. \n  \n \nInstructor:\nJoseph Rodin is a licensed massage therapist\, psychotherapist\, and certified Trager® practitioner. His somatic background includes intensive study of Trager®\, along with extensive coursework in osteopathic inspired manual therapy methods. Joseph took his first Trager® course in 1995 and returned to later to become certified in 2010.
