Trager® Level 2, is a stand alone course (Level 1 is prerequisite) as well as the second step of Trager® Certification, designed for students to experience a deeper level of therapeutic effectiveness and integration.
Course description and objectives:
This course is designed for students in the fields of massage therapy, physical therapy, body-centered psychotherapy, fitness training, yoga, and other somatic practices. This first step in Professional Certification in the Trager® Approach can be taken as a stand alone course. Both Mentastics® (mindful movement) & Table-work are taught through demonstrations and supervised practice, and you’ll come away with a an full body protocol to integrate into your current bodywork practice and a foundation for subsequent certification to offer Trager® Approach as a primary modality in your practice.
The class will teach effective applications for pain and injury, as well as relief from symptoms of sustained social, emotional and psychological stress. It will also highlight ways of working with manual therapy and body sensation to address the effects of internalized trauma, both recent and long past.Trager® is a valuable approach for anyone who wants to elevate awareness in themselves and their clients.
Milton Trager, MD, who became aware of the basic principles at the age of 18, spent over 50 years refining this unique approach to somatic movement therapy and bodywork, achieving high levels of success with effects of Parkinson’s, MS, Post Polio Syndrome, Back Pain, Migraine’s, and Chronic Pain, while helping patients reconnect to their inherent sense of ageless, ease and joy of movement.
About Trager® The tablework, involving deep, fluid rocking movements (oscillations) of muscles and joints combined with gentle traction and compression, feeds the brain’s natural neuroplasticity and induces dramatic muscular relaxation, along with feelings of lightness, freedom, and flexibility. Sessions also include individualized, mindful, somatic movement explorations called Mentastics®.
Instructor: Roger Tolle. Besides teaching for Trager International in English and German, he also consults with massage schools and individual bodyworkers on movement issues in the bodywork practice, gives presentations on bodywork and somatic movement education at various conferences.
He has a B.A. in Theater/Movement, and spent 15 years as a professional modern dancer and choreographer in Boston and New York City. The fluidity, playfulness and elegance from his dance career are everywhere evident in the way he embodies Trager principles.
He began his Trager practice in 1984 in New York City. He now lives in Charlottesville, VA, where he maintains a private practice when not on the road teaching. From his dance and Trager background, through his extensive study with pioneers in the field of somatic movement education, and through his personal practice of movement meditations, Roger developed a series of workshops in “Movement and Transformation”. Since 1989, he has been teaching these workshops around the world.
