SUMMARY:TRAGER® LEVEL 1 - SEATTLE
DESCRIPTION:This Trager 1 course takes place February 20-22 & March 27-29\, in Seattle\, WA. Trager work has become known as a highly effective neuromuscular approach to bodywork and somatic movement therapy with applications in rehabilitation\, movement re-patterning\, trauma informed care\, and psychophysical integration. \nTrager Level 1 is a stand alone course as well as the first step of Trager Certification\, designed for students to experience a deeper level of therapeutic effectiveness and integration. \nCourse description and objectives:\nThis course is designed for students in the fields of massage therapy\, physical therapy\, body-centered psychotherapy\, fitness training\, yoga\, and other somatic practices. This first step in Professional Certification in the Trager Approach can be taken as a stand alone course. Both Mentastics (mindful movement) & Table-work are taught through demonstrations and supervised practice\, and you’ll come away with a an full body protocol to integrate into your current bodywork practice and a foundation for  subsequent certification to offer the Trager Approach as a primary modality in your practice. \nThe class will teach effective applications for pain and injury\, as well as relief from symptoms of sustained social\, emotional and psychological stress. It will also highlight ways of working with manual therapy and body sensation to address the effects of internalized trauma\, both recent and long past. Trager is a valuable approach for anyone who wants to elevate awareness in themselves and their clients.  \nMilton Trager\, MD\, who became aware of the basic principles at the age of 18\, spent over 50 years refining this unique approach to somatic movement therapy and bodywork\, achieving high levels of success with effects of Parkinson’s\, MS\, Post Polio Syndrome\, Back Pain\, Migraines\, and Chronic Pain\, while helping patients reconnect to their inherent sense of ageless ease and joy of movement. \nAbout Trager The tablework\, involving deep\, fluid rocking movements (oscillations) of muscles and joints combined with gentle traction and compression\, feeds the brain’s natural neuroplasticity and induces dramatic muscular relaxation\, along with feelings of lightness\, freedom\, and flexibility. Sessions also include individualized\, mindful\, somatic movement explorations called Mentastics. \nPrerequisites\nIt is highly recommended to have taken an Introduction to Trager Approach class\, live or online\, and receive one or more Trager sessions prior to class to get the most from the training.  \nPayment\nThe cost of both weekends together (six days) is $1\,345. Those who’ve taken any Trager Intro are entitled to $100 discount. Payment plans and sliding scale available\, please inquire. \nInstructor: Joseph Rodin is a Trager Practitioner and Tutor\, and a practicing bodyworker and psychotherapist in Seattle\, WA. He teaches continuing education courses throughout the Northwest and beyond. Into his courses he also weaves his background with Percussion and Afro Brazilian Dance. \n

SUMMARY:TREATMENT OF THE JAW MUSCULATURE
DESCRIPTION:With trager fundamentals and resistance and release work. \nComprehensive treatment and release of the muscles of the jaw are almost never covered in massage trainings. And yet they are of vital importance in a number of ways. \nThey are instrumental in addressing many issues that clients present: TMJ problems\, dental alignment\, teeth grinding\, free craniosacral movement in the bones of the skull\, headaches\, various eye issues\, swallowing problems\, the freeing of the voice musculature and authentic vocal communication. \nThey are frequently impacted by stress and anxiety because they are typically a funnel for the unconscious muscular responses of psychological disturbances associated with  these states of stress and anxiety. Their tonus is raised\, imbalances of jaw positions and movement is adversely affected\, and many of the issues listed above that clients often present follow suit. \nThe Trager Approach with Resistance and Release treatment is a two-fold process of treating these powerful muscles: \n\nGentle movements that deeply relax and soften the muscle fibers\nThe introduction of a variety of angles of resistance to the jaw’s movements that re-coordinate the actions of the muscle fibers involved\, so that lasting change in their movement patterns is achieved.\n\nThese methods are the distillation of Deane Juhan’s 50 years of experience of working with thousands of clients. He has been a practitioner and teacher of the Trager Approach for 40 of those years\, and is the innovative developer of Resistance and Release Work. \nThis class will give you powerful new tools in the treatment of the jaw and cranium\, and also effective methods of freeing your own jaw\, throat and neck. A slide/lecture reviewing of the anatomy of muscles of the jaw will be included. \nThis workshop will be of interest and usefulness to bodyworkers of all kinds. No matter what form of work in which you have been previously trained\, these methods are easily adapted into your sessions.
