SUMMARY:Trager Level 1 - Spokane
DESCRIPTION:New 2nd weekend option added.\nFirst Weekend: April 18-20th.\nSecond Weekend: April 25-27th OR *June 27-29th. \nWhy Trager® Certification\nDr. Milton Trager\, MD\, recognized well before contemporary knowledge on neuroplasticity\, autonomic regulation and current pain science\, that new information introduced to areas in the unconscious mind\, gently and with skill\, activates positive neurological changes which improve movement patterns and decrease pain. He referred to his work as Psychophysical Integration. \nTrager® Practitioners work in a calm\, cultivated\, meditative state\, enhancing therapist efficacy\, ease\, career longevity\, and facilitating neuroceptive co-regulation for client and therapist alike. Using the language of touch and movement they promote enhanced sensory awareness and ease of movement. \nTrager® sessions include gentle integrative waves combined with compressions and elongations and within a variety of amplitudes\, vectors  and rhythms\, received in a calming atmosphere. Cumulative in nature\, this work promotes ease\, physical mobility\, an enhanced sense of safety\, agency and natural movement. \nA mental\, emotional and physical education\, Trager® sends clients into the world with the physical efficiency and coordination that leads to effortless movement. Milton Trager called this feeling a place beyond relaxation\, a place of peace and agelessness. \nWhy Trager® Certification\nLevel 1 can be taken as a free standing course and is the first step of Trager Certification\, a program designed for students who want to develop Trager® as a primary modality in their practice. It offers highly focused\, in-depth training with the exploration\, supervision\, and feedback necessary for students to establish a successful Trager® practice. Being certified also allows the practitioner to market themselves with a tangible credential. Upon certification\, with their permission\, the US Trager® Association lists practitioners on its website as part of its referral network. \nDates for Trager® Level 1 and Certification\nLevel 1\, April 18-20 and May 25-27 OR *June 27-29th.\nGuided Practice\, sessions and tutorials: July\, tbd\nLevel 2\, Fall\, 2025\, tbd. \nWhat is Trager?\nTrager is a unique\, neuromuscular approach to bodywork and movement re-patterning. The tablework consists of deep\, fluid rocking movements (oscillations) of muscles and joints combined with compression and gentle traction. This feeds into the nervous system resulting in dramatic muscular relaxation\, along with feelings of lightness\, freedom and flexibility. The client is also shown simple exercises called mentastics which helps integrate the profound changes in the body. \nMilton Trager\, MD\, who became aware of the basic principles at the age of 18\, spent over 50 years refining this unique approach to somatic movement therapy and bodywork\, achieving high levels of success with effects of Parkinson’s\, MS\, Post Polio Syndrome\, Back Pain\, Migraine’s\, and Chronic Pain\, while helping patients reconnect to their inherent sense of ageless\, ease and joy of movement. \n  \nInstructor:\nJoseph Rodin is a licensed massage therapist\, psychotherapist\, and certified Trager® practitioner. His somatic background includes intensive study of Trager®\, along with extensive coursework in osteopathic inspired manual therapy methods. Joseph took his first Trager® course in 1995 and returned to later to become certified in 2010. Since then\, he has taught numerous Trager® introductory classes\, mentored with and assisted senior Trager® instructors\, been a Trager® Tutor and is the past President of the US Trager® Association and past member of the Board of Directors for Trager International. He’s presented on Trager and TMJ at Trager Conferences live\, virtually\, and for the Tragerology organization. \nJoseph’s movement experience began with being a Yoga Instructor for fourteen years and a student of Afro-Brazillian Dance and Percussion. These inform his Trager® work as much as his varied background with psychotherapy and bodywork. In Seattle\, in addition to seeing clients for psychotherapy\, Joseph has a strong manual therapy practice with a clinical focus on headache\, TMJ and chronic pain. He teaches courses around the Northwest and beyond in The Trager Approach\, myofascial release\, intraoral massage\, craniosacral and more. His passion for teaching is based on empowering students to further develop their unique gifts\, to convey both the art and science of manual therapy\, and to use the path of bodywork as mindful contemplation and inquiry into the healing process for client and therapist alike. \n*This additional option for a second weekend was requested by several prospective students and goes into effect with minimum of 4 students.

SUMMARY:RESTORING POLYVAGAL HARMONY AND CORE MUSCULAR INTEGRATION UTILIZING THE TRAGER® APPROACH
DESCRIPTION:Leverage the essential principles of Dr. Milton Trager’s seminal approach to touch and movement as a language that by their very nature are trauma-informed\, non-invasive methods for reaching the unconscious mind and dissolving some of the deepest effects of trauma held in the musculature\, those impacting the vagus nerve system. \nUsing the body as a handle to reach the mind for this dialogue and to establish a state of peace and safety\, we’ll utilize a combination of compassionate\, mindful attention\, oscillatory mobilizations\, and informed positional releases to follow the path of the vagus nerve to address and integrate the implicated skeletal muscle groups associated with the fight\, fight or freeze response—those including trapezius\, diaphragm\, and psoas. \nOn the shoulders of your own well developed skills and coupled with a mindful presence\, these concepts will enhance your capacity to restore tone to the Ventral Vagal System through the Neck/Shoulders/Rib cage of your clients to facilitate deep and positive interoception and social connection.  And the down regulation of the Dorsal Vagal Response through the diaphragm\, abdomen and psoas/QL\, will help to restore visceral harmony.   We’ll also build on the Mentastics to empower your clients to further the neuromuscular gains from this protocol to ensure lasting change through simple Trager® Mentastics:  mindful\, somatic movement exercises. \nAbout the Vagus Nerve:  Proper balance of vagus nerve response is essential for optimum health and well-being. The longest nerve in the human body\, the vagus nerve originates in the brain stem and extends into the chest and abdomen. Carrying both motor and sensory information\, it supplies innervation to the heart\, major blood vessels\, airways\, lungs\, esophagus\, stomach\, and intestines. \nIn addition\, the vagus nerve stimulates the secretion of acetylcholine within the central nervous system.  Acetylcholine plays a role in motivation\, arousal\, attention\, learning\, memory including muscle memory\, and REM sleep.  Acetylcholine\, a neurotransmitter as well as a neuromodulator\, also aids in reducing inflammation in all organs.  It modulates the release of other neurotransmitters\, including dopamine\, norepinephrine\, and serotonin\, impacting the mood and the energy level. \nInstructor: Michael Lear works with veterans and others managing effects of trauma and has been published on the subject. A Trager® Instructor\, Michael has been practicing Trager® and other forms of bodywork since 1987. A dedicated mindfulness adherent (Vipassana Meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka) and Ashtanga Yoga Instructor\, Michael’s lifelong commitment is to assist folks to be happy in their bodies and connected to those around them.

SUMMARY:DYNAMIC MOBILIZATIONS - WHOLE BODY APPLICATIONS - USING THE TRAGER® APPROACH
DESCRIPTION:Dynamic Mobilizations is a new offering with different\, complimentary content to other Trager courses. Go beyond passive and active range of motion by using the weight of the mobilized\, relaxed body against changing hand fulcrums and waves of various amplitudes. This is similar to the combination of the fluid dynamics of breath and fingers playing a solo on a flute or saxophone. This approach allows for deep tissue access and clinical creativity and specificity without sacrificing a feeling of safety and comfort for client and therapist alike. \nWe’ll explore mobilizations for the whole body including neck\, shoulder girdle\, spine and pelvis. We’ll explore prone\, supine and sidelying work\, and explore somatics (Trager Mentastics) that bring greater presence for client and therapist. \nLearn to: \n\n\n\n\n• Impact joints\, organs\, fascia and fluids\n• Increased proprioceptive reintegration\n• determine restrictions three dimensionally\n• simultaneously affect local and global change\n• trauma informed touch promotes neuroceptive safety\n• leverage the sensory-motor system for resolution of pain \n\n\n\n\nWhat is Trager?\nTrager is a unique\, neuromuscular approach to bodywork and movement re-patterning. SUMMARY:BALANCING THE NERVOUS SYSTEM USING THE TRAGER® APPROACH
DESCRIPTION:What is Trager?\nTrager is a unique\, neuromuscular approach to bodywork and movement re-patterning. \nAbout This Class:\nMost massage approaches succeed well at releasing muscular tension. But very few massage approaches succeed at dissolving the patterning that produces the tension\, which means after a period of relaxation\, it lives to see another day. \nThe Trager® approach is different. Not only does it release the tension\, but through its specific\, rhythmic\, gentle movements and oscillations of the muscles\, it\, ‘resets\,’ the nervous system\, unhooking it from the dysfunctional movement patterning\, and facilitating natural movement once again. \nFrom this state\, the body and mind have\, ‘learned\,’ or\, ‘become reacquainted with’ a natural movement vocabulary from which they can build to achieve freedom from pain and tension. Trager® movements called Mentastics\, are taught to the patient after the session to consilidate and improve upon the changes. \nTrager® stands alone as an approach\, but also beautifully compliments and deepens other styles of massage as well. Come and learn the language of the neuromuscular system\, and turn temporary release of tension into ongoing dissolution of muscular tension patterns. \nThis Introductory Workshop serves as a prerequisite for the Trager® Level 1 Training leading towards certification as a Trager Practitioner. \nRegister with a friend discount: $30 each.
