Trager Mentastics B (second weekend)

September 6 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

$375.00

Would you like to expand your inner and outer landscape, learn to live and work pain free, and inspire and assist your clients?

The second two days (*Mentastics B: Friday-Saturday, Sept 6-7th, 9:30am-4:30pm) revisit how deepening our personal practice expands our capacities to lead clients through transformative movement practices. We will then build on this foundation to address teaching Mentastics to groups. Open to all Trager students and practitioners.

What are Mentastics
Mentastics are a process of movement exploration and mind/body development characterized by an open, curious state of mind and used to explore and integrate lighter, freer, more peaceful ways of moving and being. Trager practitioners use them for self-care, self-development, and for our work with clients. Dr. Trager coined the word “Mentastics” as a conjoining of “mental” and “gymnastics”. Mentastics support on-going well being, enhance the benefits of Trager Sessions and teach clients how to integrate the principles into their daily life.

Instructor: Gwen Crowell
Gwen was introduced to the work of Dr. Milton Trager while attending massage school in Berkeley. She worked with Dr. Trager from 1978 until his passing in 1997, and Dr. Trager selected her as one of his instructors in 1985. Attracted by the joyful movement and ease of the work, Gwen became a pioneer in bringing Trager to Washington and has maintained a private practice since 1979. As a teacher, she effectively guides students, helping them to anchor moments of understanding and to recognize and celebrate their competencies. She designed a pioneering Trager Program, has delivered guest lectures at Bastyr University, and teaches Trager certification classes throughout North America, Europe, and Japan. She enjoys participating in the creative process of Trager and witnessing clients and students transform through the power of touch.

What is Trager? Trager is a unique, neuromuscular approach to bodywork and movement re-patterning. The tablework consists of deep, fluid rocking movements (oscillations) of muscles and joints combined with compression and gentle traction. This feeds into the nervous system resulting in dramatic muscular relaxation, along with feelings of lightness, freedom, and flexibility. Milton Trager, MD, spent over 50 years refining this unique approach to somatic movement therapy and bodywork.

Milton Trager, MD, became aware of the basic principles at the age of 18, and spent over 50 years refining this unique approach to somatic movement therapy and bodywork.
